and Research Center
The Sauk Centre Area History Museum and Research Center proudly collects, preserves and exhibits artifacts and archival information from the Sauk Centre area, including the surrounding townships of Getty, Ashley, Kandota and Unity. The Museum acts as a community resource for individuals and organizations seeking historical information, showcasing the Sauk Centre area heritage, linking with schools and other community organizations as well as the public. The Museum aims to document history, provide expertise to produce exhibits, collect and preserve cultural artifacts and documents for future generations. The ultimate goal is to provide the opportunity for all area residents, as well as visitors to the Sauk Centre area, to learn about and enjoy the area’s history and build a sense of community heritage.
Where We Are Going
The Sauk Centre Area History Museum and Research Center is currently located on the lower level of Bryant Library at 430 South Main Street. Here you will find exhibits and photos presenting the story of Sauk Centre and its growth over the decades. You will also find the research center where members and the public are assisted with their own historical pursuits. This is also where our archives and artifacts are housed. In 2016 the Schaefer family donated the old creamery building (address) to the SCAHM&RC. Through grants, fundraisers and donations we expect at state-of-the-art museum to open in the Creamery in 5-7 years. Through interactive exhibition design and modern instillation techniques, SCAHM will provide a unique experience for the visitor to Historic Mainstreet and the people and stories which have shaped it.
